We don't get to see much of people in the summer because of our hectic schedules so we thought this would be a good way to keep in touch!

Happy Thanksgiving!
We finished up our Thanksgivings yesterday for the year. Now we are starting on Christmas. We got our tree up and our Christmas lights hung. We even have most of our Christmas shopping done. :)
Matt and I went out on Black Friday again this year. We were numbers 13 and 14 in line at Staples at 4:37am. We got everything we set out for and were done shopping by 8:30am. All in all, a very productive day!

Matt/Fall
So Matt is doing better with his elbow issues. He still has a couple weeks to go on medication but says he is feeling slightly better already.
Meanwhile, it is turning into fall here and boy is it beautiful. I'm not looking forward to the gigantic amount of leaves we will have to rake again this year, but I do like the look of the color on the trees. :)
Some photos I took last weekend:

Ulnar Neuritis
Matt was just diagnosed with Ulnar Neuritis yesterday. He will be just fine but it's giving him some discomfort. It's very different for him to be the one with an issue and me be the healthy one! :)

Made it home!
We made it home last night! Safe and sound, except my luggage didn't make it here till almost 11. Our plane arrived at 8:30pm. Just started sorting photos and hope to post some this evening. Holy cow did I take some photos. I would have had nicer photos if I would have had a chance to stop and breath for a minute but most of the trip was rush, rush, rush!
Ahh..... sleep was nice.

Last night in Europe
We took the train back from Florence today to Munich. That was our anniversary... sitting on a train. It was fantastic! :) We finally got to rest. :)
Once back to Munich we started to get our systems back to order by eating at the Hard Rock Cafe! It was so nice to have some nachos. The food we have eaten lately has been wonderful, but it will be very nice to get back to US food.
After that we went to the Hofbrauhaus so Matt could have an authentic beer and some fun. Now it's off to bed so we can get on the early train tomorrow am.
See you all back in the USA tomorrow!!!!

TV in Florence, Italy

As we were re-arranging our suit cases this morning we turned on TV. The one station that is in English is CNN. It just so happened that Michael Moore was on TV talking about Obama from Traverse City! I could care less about who or what they were talking about, I was just excited to see Traverse City on the TV while we were in Florence, Italy!!! I took a photo of course! :)
Photos!
Photo catch up....

Here is all of us at the fancy dinner after the partner meeting (Matt taking the photo). What a great time had by all!

This is me dancing at the fancy dinner after the partner meeting with some guy from somewhere.... He kept asking me to dance so I kept saying "Yes, as long as my husband is ok with it."
After that, Martin Zingerle wanted to dance. Who would I be if I turned down Martin for a dance?

This was the view from our Hotel room in Brixen. Matt and I must have had the best room in the house! Our room was huge and we had our own balcony. Our shower was state of the art and even had a seperate room for the toilette and of course, the bidet. I have some more photos of our view, but not any worth posting. :)

Here is another photo of the Dolomites. This was on our cable car trip up the mountain. You can see the cars down below for perspective..

Another photo of the dolomites... It was unbelievably beautiful! Thanks Mom for talking me into upgrading my camera!

Little home sick....
So I got a little homesick today. :(
We were talking about places to eat and I said it was too bad they don't have China Fair here or Outback. I know, I'm in a beautiful place with wonderful food (so I've heard); but gluten doesn't disappear. I made cards up before I left that explains my celiac disease in German and Italian so they have been VERY handy to have. Anyway, I called home this evening and got to talk with Mom. One euro gets you about two minutes of phone call to the USA, but it was worth it and I think made it a lot easier. We've had a wonderful time so far, lots of little shops and I've taken over 500 photos. Don't worry, I won't make you look at all of them. :)
I think I'm ready to go home now. Just one more day of shopping in Florence then it's back on a train to Munich for our anniversary (2 years!!). We'll be back on Wednesday and see most of you shortly after.

This is a photo from our train ride from Munich to Brixen that I love.

This is Matt and I as we climbed the Dolomites in Italy. We are higher than the clouds that are in the background!
Sleeper Train... VERY sleepy.
So a little background... yesterday was the excursion to the Italian Dolomites. We climbed, we hiked, we ate (well, they ate), we were very sleepy. Once we got on the sleeper train we were very excited to take a nice long nap. I should have known that wouldn't have happened. We were in a car next to two men who slept with their mouths open, drooled and snored. Needless to say, Matt and I have been up for 30 hours straight. We JUST got the keys into our hotel room (BEAUTIFUL) and need to take a shower (PU) before we take a nap. This morning we had to walk around till our room was available so we saw the Duomo and a bunch of other churches along with some light shopping and a lot of sitting on the side of the road to rest. Liz was able to get some sleep so she is still out running around, perfectly fine. I think we will all sleep VERY well tonight. So far, Brixen is my favorite of the cities that we have visited but I may just be cranky from lack of sleep. Off to take a nap now....
Florence
Well, the last few nights have been very busy for us and full of wonderful parties and made lots of new friends from around the globe. At 0030 this morning we boarded the sleeper train for Florence and just got in. The hotel has our reservations and we are all set to go. This afternoon we will be visiting the Uffizi gallery and from there who knows! Brixen was beautiful though. Florence seems nice so far. :]

Ahh.... Munich
So the bags arrived at 2am this morning! Last night everyone went to the Hofbräuhaus for dinner and some giant beer. Matt and I were pretty tired and scared of gluten so we went to burger king for dinner and came back to watch some German tv. I know, exciting right? It was nice to sit and relax thought. Very nice to get off my ankle which is doing fine still. Burger King was interesting. They don't have grilled chicken here so I had a hamburger (first one in years!) with double pickles only. :) Also, all of the drinks are just below room temperature with no ice available anywhere. Anywho, everything was gluten free and delicious! Today is rainy in Munich but I packed an umbrella so it's alright. Breakfast this morning in the hotel was also delicious. I had some salami and cheese with a cup of coffee. They also had granola, bagles and other gluten assortment for everyone else. Now on to explore..

We made it!
We just checked into our hotel in Munich for tonight. The plane rides were fun. I think we all slept the whole way over the ocean. Our bags are still in Frankfurt, Germany but "should" arrive here tonight around 8pm. Now it's off to find some dinner and take some photos!

Oh boy...
You won't believe what I did today..... I sprained my ankle.
Hopefully I can heal enough to walk on it by next Tuesday when we fly to Italy!
The doctor I saw today at Urgent Care seemed to think that I would be good to go in a week or two.
So now I'm sitting on the couch, waiting for the pain to go away...

Italy here we come!
So It's becoming more and more real that we are going to Italy as we make reservations and confirm seating on flights. I am going to attempt to blog while we are there but who knows! Today we booked our hotel for Florence. We will be staying at "Hotel Maxim" in the heart of Florence, about 3 blocks away from the Duomo.

This is the other town we will be visiting:

I just can't wait!!

Radioactive!
So tomorrow morning I go in to the hospital to take a pill that has radioactive iodine in it. This should kill my thyroid. Yippy!
The last two weeks I have been on a low iodine diet - no iodized salt, no dairy, no soy, and of course no gluten. It's been a wonderful couple weeks filled with unseasoned meat, fruit and vegetables. There are only so many ways to prepare the three food groups before you just want to eat some cheese! I was so excited this morning, thinking that I only had one day left of this silly diet; then the radiologist or whatever he is told me that I have to continue this diet for 5 more days after the treatment!!!
I already had a grocery list made up for Matt and now I have to wait 5 more days?! Ug.
Every time I think about it I can smell China Fair. Mmm... China Fair!
I am really excited though that we have new cabinet doors in the kitchen!! Wonderful doors handmade by my wonderful husband. :) So look for more blogs the rest of the week. I will probably be bored at home.

Thyroid, oh my!
So I was diagnosed with a hyper-active thyroid a couple of weeks ago. That was a fun day. They put me on bed rest for 10 days or so and I couldn't leave the house. Walking around the house was enough to put me short of breath.
I am happy to say now that I am getting my energy back (due to a few new pills) and was able to finish the Cherry Festival parade! I wasn't able to play in the 4th of July parade in Marquette because I didn't have my energy back yet, so we brought Piper up to Marquette with us and she walked some of the parade with me. :) Every step you could hear, "Aww... did you see that dog?" from the sidelines. She loved it. :) It's also nice that she wasn't scared of the pipes or the drums. Why, you ask? Because she is named Piper! Here is Matt and Piper on the way home from Marquette.

We have also been busy working on the house, now that I have my energy some-what back. I like working on the house, so those 10 days where I was confined to the house without being able to do anything were pretty torturous.
Here is Piper after her bath the other day... I just like this photo. :)

Busy Season
So Matt and I are back to working on our house. We just bought a new refridgerator:

We are also re-facing the cabinets from the dark ugly color to a white finish. I am very excited to be working on the kitchen! It was the ugliest room in the house.
We also bought and are installing hard wood floors in the master bedroom. That should help with my allergies!
Piper is doing good. She knows "sit" and we are now working on "come". She's a pretty good dog and LOVES her kitties still.
An updated schedule of our band gigs can be found at: gtpandd.googlepages.com
Bye for now!

Merry Christmas/Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had as great a holiday season as we did!
I think it was the fastest few weeks in my life. It all started with Matt's work Christmas Party, then my work's Christmas Party, then an Ugly Christmas Sweater party, 4 family Christmas Parties along with a few birthday parties... then our New Year's party. That was a lot of late nights but all good fun!
Piper got a nice trim that makes her look like a little dog now instead of a puppy and is finally starting to grow. The cats are getting used to her a little and even cuddled with her one cold night. Her normal body temp is 102 degrees so she is a nice little furnace on cold nights. :)
